ABOUT AMELSE FARMS
Amelse Farms is a family owned and operated business in beautiful southwestern Wisconsin, near the Kickapoo River Valley. Our century-old trees flourish in a valley sheltered by rolling hills and rocky bluffs.
Our syrup is collected and processed by a third generation syrup producer. Meticulous processing and filtration make our syrup consistently flavorful and delicious! It takes about 40 gallons of sap to make just one gallon of delicious and natural maple syrup. A maple tree should be approximately 12" in diameter and about 45 years old to tap. The maple season is over when the spring nights are warmer and trees begin to bud.
Our farm is home to abundant wildlife and we're committed to sustainable forestry and responsible woodland management. We have 540 acres of forest and cropland and are working to maintain a diverse woodland habitat.
In 2001 we planted over 15,000 trees and developed a comprehensive forest stewardship plan. We are a member of the Kickapoo Woods Coop, Kickapoo Valley Association and the American Tree Farm System. We're also proud to be awarded use of the 'Something Special from Wisconsin' logo. In 2004 our syrup was certified organic by the Midwest Organic Services Association (MOSA).
